2024 Program Operations Report

ADMISSIONS/DISCHARGES:There were 18 new admissions. There were 14 discharges: 1 turned 18, 13 were reunified with a biological parent or placed with a relative. During the year, SOS served 14 sibling groups.

SOS cared for 61 children in the village in 2024. From its inception in January 1993, SOS has served a total of 1154 children.

MEDICAL SERVICES: In 2024, there were a total of 390 medical appointments, a combination of virtual and face to face. 150 of these appointments were with Pediatricians, 153 with Dentists, 32 with eye doctors, 20 with Psychiatrists, and 35 of these appointments were with specialists (doctors other than Pediatricians, Dentists, or eye doctors).
CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES: Florida Certified Child Welfare Dependency Case Managers were responsible for providing services for 61 children and their families. On July 1st, 2024, the DCM contract was not extended because ChildNet determined that all case management services will be conducted in-house. This caused the Dependency Case Management department to be eliminated. 
SATISFACTION SURVEYS:We conducted 1 client satisfaction surveys this year in March. A total of 35 surveys were returned in March 2024, with the following results: Children’s overall satisfaction with SOS program: 12 strongly agreed, 19 agreed, and 4 neutral. During the year our clients rated overall satisfaction with SOS program at 88%.
NEXT STEPS PROGRAM: In 2024, there were approximately 179 young adults in the Next STEPS program serving young adults in the community who have aged out of the foster care system and/or have had some type of dependency involvement. At the end of year, of the 179 young adults, 125 were employed, 27 were in post-secondary school, 16 were in school and working and 11 were not employed or in school. The number of young adults served in the Next STEPS program includes young adults who once lived at SOS as well as young adults who never lived at SOS but were in other foster care placements, all of whom have aged out of foster care.
CHILDNET MONITORING/LICENSING: In November 2024, DCF conducted an audit for the Child Placing Agency (CPA) re-licensure for the Neighborhood Foster Home Program. The license is valid for one year. The audit resulted with satisfactory ratings. Additionally, SOS completed the re-licensure for the individual foster homes occupied by the licensed foster parent. Each re-licensure date varies, and the license is valid for one year. 
ACCREDITATION:SOS was reaccredited by COA through May 31st, 2027.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: THE STATED OUTCOMES FOR 2024 ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Goal: 75% of the children will improve or maintain their academic level.

Result:90% attained this goal.

Goal:75% of the children will improve or maintain their independent living skills.

Result:95% attained this goal.

Goal:75% of the young adults participating in the Next STEPS Program will be enrolled in school or employed full time. 

Result: 94% attained this goal. 

Goal:90% of the young adults participating in the Next STEPS Program will not be homeless.

Result: 98% attained this goal.
